Lives of author and Elon Musk have taken slightly different paths

I like books. And on the rare occasions when I’ve read my comic book until their memorized and all of my coloring books are complete, I break out something more serious.

Such was the case recently when I happened upon the biography of Elon Musk. I didn’t know much about Musk, and I thought (while taking a break from my Batman comics) that it might be interesting.

It didn’t take me long to discover that Elon Musk’s life was slightly different than my own.

I read about how he started businesses, developed the Tesla, contributed to the development of privatized rocket travel, and now owns Twitter, which we all know is now called simply X.

As I read about all of these ventures, I wondered what his day must be like, what with working on rockets and self-driving cars and owning a social media site.

His days must be full of excitement, I thought.

Then, it dawned on me. Elon Musk and I are roughly the same age.

That’s when I realized that my days probably looked significantly different than his.

What exactly did my day consist of? Well, I cleaned out the litter box, I found myself wandering aimlessly in my shop, I cleaned up dog poop in the back yard, and, (Oh Yeah!!), I went to Wal-Mart, where you hear much of the same language that you hear on X.

You probably already know this, but Musk also happens to be one of the richest people in the world with a net worth of $247 billion.

Notice I said he was ONE of the richest. So it’s possible I’m another of the richest people in the world . . .

Ok, truth be told, I’m not. If I was, I’d probably pay someone to clean out my cat’s litter box. Heck, if I had that much money, I could afford a cat that could clean out his OWN litter box.

Not only am I not quite worth $247 billion, I don’t even have 247 billion pennies, which would be worth over 2.4 billion dollars.

But I do have an old coffee can that’s FULL of pennies! Unfortunately, the bank wouldn’t accept them because they smelled like century-old coffee.

From reading the book, I discovered that it’s very difficult for people to work for Musk. He’s very demanding of his employees.

But this is where I have him beat!

I must be even more difficult to work for because NO ONE is currently working for me!

And I know what you’re thinking: Elon Musk is an innovator; of course, he’s going to be wealthy.

Well, let me tell you, I’m a bit of an innovator myself.

For example, I’ve got a great add-on feature I want to make available for cars of all styles. Imagine, you’re driving down the road, and someone cuts you off in traffic.

That’s where MY invention comes in!

Your car is now equipped with a button. And when you push that button, your hood flips over, revealing a giant hand with the middle finger extended.

My invention hasn’t quite taken off on a Musk-like level, but I’m still hoping!

I did get to drive a Tesla recently, and I’ll have to say it was very, very cool. Perhaps, just maybe, his Tesla is just a tad bit better than my invention.

However, if you ever find yourself driving down the highway with a Tesla behind you, and the hood suddenly flips over giving you the giant finger, let me know IMMEDIATELY.

I’ll have a few royalties heading my way. And maybe it will be enough that I can afford a part-time litter box cleaner.

Well Mark, as I always tell myself: Money isn’t everything and doesn’t always make one happy. But I’d like to try being just a fraction of what Musk is worth and see! Wouldn’t you?!
