Sisterhood award (and yes, I know I’m a man . . . )

For those of you wondering, I’m a man. A REAL man. Not one of the fake ones or anything.

But even so, it’s an honor for me to be considered for the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award. Those that know me or have followed my blog, know that I started this kind of as an experiment, just to find out about blogging. Plus, I felt like my perspective was a little different – a single father raising two kids. I thought some of the lessons I learned as a single parent might be both amusing and instructive to others, and maybe even heartwarming at times.

But a strange thing happened on the way to hitting the PUBLISH button. I found out that I really enjoyed blogging. I mean REALLY enjoyed it.  And more importantly, I found out I needed it. I found blogging to be therapeutic in a way that I didn’t expect. I came to look forward to my writing sessions, as well as my interactions with other bloggers and readers.

So while I’m not a true “Sister” as I’m sure the awarded was intended to go to, I will consider myself a “brother” to al lthe sisters. And that’s not a bad place to be.

I want to thank Eclectic Odds n Sods for nominating me for this award. I’m not sure how many guys have ever been nominated for me, but I’ll accept it as an honor. I hope it means that my writing speaks to many people – both men and women.

Answer these 10 questions:

Your favourite colour …. My favorite color is blue. I think. Although I reserve the right to change if the mood strikes me.

Your favourite animal …I guess mine would be a dog. They’re so friendly, and they are after all a man’s, . . . errr . . . sister’s best friend.

Your favourite non-alcoholic drink …. Hmmmmmm. I guess I would have to pick iced tea. Or maybe a Dr. Pepper 10, which I’m drinking right now. (And remember: Dr. Pepper 10 is for MEN ONLY. Yet another piece of evidence to prove that I am a man.)

Facebook or Twitter – I really like both of them a lot. I find myself getting addicted to Twitter if I get on, so I try to stay away from it. I do use Facebook more often, so I’ll go with Facebook.

Your favourite pattern ….. As a guy, I’m not sure I’m allowed to answer this. (And, I’m ashamed to admit, I don’t know any patterns.) But if I did, I guess I would say my favorite pattern is eat, watch tv, eat, take a nap, eat, go to bed. Oh, and you can throw beer and/or sex in there at any point in the pattern without throwing it off.

Do you prefer getting or giving presents?–  I like giving gifts better. I’m usually pretty good at picking out gifts, and I enjoy making others happy.

Your favourite number … I would say either 6, which was my favorite as a kid, or 37, which seems like a totally random number and one I’ve grown fond of over the years.

Your favourite day of the week … There’s something about Fridays that I love. The work week is winding down, and the freedom of the weekend stretches before you like a highway you’re dying to explore.

Your favourite flower …. I would say a gardenia. I love the smell. But I’m not sure that qualifies as a flower. Hmmmmmm. Aren’t there any questions on here about football or beer or some other manly pursuits?

What is your passion? ….. My children
